The Valentine Days

I have experienced quite a few Valentine's Days in my life. There are the ones in high school where my girlfriends and I would wallow in our misery of being single and watch a movie.I remember a mortifying one in 6th Grade where I gave my first Valentine to my very first real crush who showed it to everyone, while proudly admitting he didn't like me back. I remember getting a beautiful Gerber Daisy and peanut butter M&Ms from Jordan back when we were dating. That same year I bought him the game, Settlers of Cataan, but ended up just giving him chocolate because I didn't want him to get scared off at the fairly expensive gift and think that I was more invested in the relationship then he was. (though I probably was at the time). One of my favorite Valentine's days was the year we were first married. That year, that special day landed on the night that I had class until 9:00 PM and we celebrated with a midnight meal at Burger King.

This Valentine's Day I decided to try to do something extra special, Jordan has been so busy, and I have had some extra time that I  created a little Valentine week for him. I put together a little Valentine surprise every day for him. I just researched some ideas on Pinterest and recreated them. (wish I was super original, but I am not) These little daily Valentines were the hit. Jordan is a sucker for anything cute and he loved them. However, the Rice Krispie one turned out horrible. I have no talent for cooking Rice Krispies even though they are the easiest dessert to make. They always turn out as hard as a rock.

Little nerdy valentines! So So cute!

I told Jordan a few weeks before that if he took care of dinner, I would take care of the date activity. Jordan decided to split the dinner and date between two different days. This idea was BRILLIANT. Madison can only be happy without any attention or being held by us for about 45 minutes tops! Splitting up the date worked great, because we could enjoy each others company for both instead of being frustrated while holding a crying baby. For dinner, we took Madison and went out to dinner at a little place in Midway. It was a little Mexican restaurant where we ordered fajitas and tried every salsa at the salsa bar!

All ready and dressed to go to dinner!
The next day, the day of our little date activity, we prepared carefully and did our very best to get Madison down for the night at 8:00! It worked! She was out and I was able to do my little activity with Jordan. Earlier that month I found a little Love Scavenger Hunt on 'The Dating Diva's' website. It was a blast. I was tentative at first, but it was so awesome and sweet. We shared favorite memories and character traits, fed each other powdered donuts, made toasts with sparkling cider, and danced to an entire love song. If you need an easy date idea to do at home, I definitely recommend this! The printable are free on their website!

Little clues with tasks on the back to complete before moving on in the hunt.

At the end of the Love Hunt I gave him my little gift! This is also courtesy of The Dating Divas! This little printable is titled "Passport to Love". It comes with a little travel itinerary and passport that I put Jordan's picture and information in. Because he is so busy I decided to make him write down days and times that he is going to spend with me. I will plan the date and since we are to poor to travel the world we are going to bring the world to us and have little themed dates! I am very excited! I love to plan extravagant things!

Don't forget my newest baby girl valentine!

One great thing about being married is that I no longer have to face Valentine's Day emotionless and with a guarded heart as I see couples holding hands or beautiful flowers in a happy girl's arms. Even though kids have come into the picture, even though we may not be able to coordinate an extravagant evening, and even though we may not have the money to spend on a dozen roses, I belong to a wonderful boy that I get to celebrate my love with forever.
